Specialties

I offer depth-oriented treatment for adult individuals and couples from all phases of life struggling with relationship problems and challenges with mood and self-esteem. I have experience working with folks in addiction and recovery, and those affected by a loved one’s addiction.

I specialize in working with people struggling to find and make their creative work. I believe this process unfolds through a more flexible and accepting relationship with yourself. My hope is that through our work together, you experience greater contact with yourself and reach a fuller understanding of who you are and what you long to make.

How I Work

I think much of therapy involves coming to know that you are safe in the presence of another person - safe enough to feel, “not know,” and share parts of yourself that you might fear, judge, or hate. While therapy challenges us to hang in there through often unbearable feelings, I believe it offers us a chance at a sense of inner freedom - that there is nowhere inside of you that you are afraid to go. Ideally, therapy allows us to come forward and meet ourselves, again and again.

Perhaps you are struggling with a sense that something is missing in your life, a lack of “realness” within yourself, or a feeling that you are failing. You may be healing from a traumatic experience, or from impossible childhood situations. Perhaps you are experiencing anxiety or boredom, or feel “stuck” in your creative practice. You may be longing for deeper connection within your relationships, or feel confused by damaging and depleting relationship patterns. Whatever you are facing, you are here because some part of you is brave enough to hope for relief.

My orientation is rooted in contemporary psychoanalysis and informed by queer perspectives and zen traditions. I often draw from music and poetry in my thinking. My style is warm.
